Simone Sou & Oleg Fateev
Brazilian percussionist Simone Sou along with Oleg Fateev from Moldova will bring us a journey into Balkan-Brazilian music.
Simone was born in San Paulo Brazil and Oleg in Bender Moldova. Their meeting took place in Mundial festival (Tilburg/NL) where they were invited by Ethel String Quartet (NY) to join a world music project in 2008.
The duo started to perform in Brazil in 2009 and later in the Netherlands, where they played all over the country, developing their own style and compositions.
The combination of both instruments – accordion and percussion – brought to each other new possibilities of sounds, blending Brazilian rhythmical flavours to Russian melodies and harmonies. The result became an unexpected and exiting musical encounter between Simone’s afro-native-Brazilian grooves and Oleg’s classical-jazz-folk approach.
The duo performed with Brazilians singer/guitar player Bado Assad and song writer Chico Cesar, recording the albums and touring Europe (Germany, Portugal, Spain, England and of course Brazil.
The Duo celebrates 10 years making music with an album and an exclusive performance at The World Music Workshop festival.
Simone will be sharing her extraordinary wonderful talent and rhythms with a series of workshops exploring Brazilian percussion and grooves.
